Ow.

I was way bad yesterday. I was feeling all mopey at lunch and went out instead of eating what I had packed myself. And then I was bad at breakfast this morning. Argh!

Yesterday:

Breakfast: 1 yogurt and a coke
Lunch: 1/2 buffalo chicken wrap, 1 italian lemon soda and 1 chocolate chip cookie
Dinner: "pizza" - cheese and 1 pepperoni with pasta sauce on flat out bread. I probably ate 1/3 of it or so, and then a salad
Dessert: a small bowl of ice cream (I actually looked at the portion size and it was more than enough!)

Today:

Breakfast: 1 banana nut muffin (the small little debbie ones - at least it wasn't one of those giant muffins!) and a coke
Lunch: 1 black bean burger on a bun with a slice of provolone cheese and bbq sauce - I probably ate 1/2 - it just didn't taste good for some reason, a banana and a small peppermint patty
Snack: 1/2 cupcake (it was birthday day at work!)
Dinner: a big salad with spinach, hard boiled egg, a little shredded cheese, deli turkey and carrots
Dessert: a bowl of chex

We leave for the BEACH tomorrow, so no posting because I am leaving the computer (and the internet) at home! This is a vacation - no working!!!

Softball

Sorry for the lack of posting. Yesterday and today sort of ran together!

Well, yesterday, we went to breakfast, like usual on Sunday morning and then I wasn't hungry like, the entire rest of the day! I had softball practice with my work league (it was so freakin hot!) and I got totally nailed in the leg and I have a massive bruise. So, yesterday's rundown:

Breakfast: 2 eggs, over easy (probably only ate 1.5) and 3 pieces of toast (yeah, that was bad)
Dinner: 1 cheese sandwich

Then today, I was doing good, but then we had softball practice again and I didn't get home until 8 and I was STARVING. Today:

Breakfast: 1 yogurt and a coke
Lunch: 1 turkey sandwich, baby carrots with ranch and about 10 junior mints
Dinner: 1 bowl of cereal, some turkey and then a couple tablespoons of peanut butter

Not the best choice, but I was just so hungry that I kind of lost control. Well, tomorrow is another day!

Alfredo. The arch-enemy.

Oh, how I love alfredo. And who doesn't? What isn't to love about a cream sauce? So, yesterday wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to turn out being. The boy and I had a visitation to go to and then went out to dinner with another couple afterward. I know that I didn't make the best choice, but we went to a super expensive restaurant, and the only other thing (other than alfredo) that I really would've liked was the filet mignon, which was like, $35. So, I went with the $20 alfredo and just tried to not eat the entire thing. I did pretty good. I ate probably 1/3 of it or so, which was more like a normal serving.

Here is the rundown from yesterday:

Breakfast: 1/2 peanut butter sandwich and 1 Coke
Lunch: 3 black bean and cheese taquitoes from Trader Joes and a tbsp of salsa
Dinner: Blackened Shrimp Fettuccine Alfredo, 1 very small piece of bread and 1/8 of a brownie sundae

Now, since I know I won't be able to post again today, here is the plan for today:

Breakfast/Lunch: Blackened Shrimp Fettuccine Alfredo, 1 Coke and a fudgsicle
Snack: Junior mints (we are going to a movie)
Dinner: Grilled chicken and grilled corn, green beans and red pepper. And probably a small glass of wine

So, today will end up being better than yesterday - all because of that one meal! But even so, I did so much better this week than I would usually eat. So, I am proud of myself for jumping in and doing what I have said I was going to do.

Now, a couple questions, if anyone could lend some insight. First, what do you do when you go out? I don't want to get a salad at every restaurant (and that isn't always the best option). Do you get something that looks relatively healthy and just eat half, since we all know restaurant portions are ridiculous?

Second question: I have gotten a migraine everyday. This is not a normal time period for me to get a migraine, and the only change I have made is my diet. So it has to be related right? Wouldn't you think that by eating better, I should (theoretically) have LESS migraines?

Hm.

Pez

Did you know that an entire roll of Pez is only 35 calories?? Good to know, right? I thought so anyway.

Well, today was good as far as WANTING to snack. I was busy this morning and so I didn't even have time to think about food. And then this afternoon, I was just full. Here's the rundown:

Breakfast: 1/2 bagel with honey butter and 1 Coke
Lunch: turkey sandwich with 2 pieces bread, 1 tbsp. mayo and 3 oz. turkey
Dinner: 1/2 bagel with liver pudding and 1 tbsp mayo with 1 glass of wine
Dessert: 1 Fudgsicle and 1/2 a roll of strawberry Pez

Water count: 3 glasses and counting

No exercise today, but I spent some time playing with my niece - which is not like being a couch potato! She is 2 1/2, so she is always on the go!

So, I usually do pretty good during the week since I am at work and don't have a ton of time to think about eating, but tomorrow is Friday. Which means the next day is Saturday. And then Sunday. And I am worried. Because I could literally eat all day. And of course, because we usually have a date night, which means going out to eat.

We will see how it goes...

Sandwiches

Today is the day of sandwiches. Every month at work we have a cooking contest and the theme this month was sandwiches. I made ice cream sandwiches - thinking out of the box! So, I ate a little more than I have been because I wanted to try a little bit of everything.

Anyway, here is the rundown:

Breakfast: 1 Stoneyfield vanilla yogurt and 1 Coke
Lunch: 1/2 Chicken Caesar Salad with 1 tbsp dressing and 4 strawberries
Snack: 1/4 PB Banana sandwich, 2 bites buffalo chicken sloppy joe, 1/2 ice cream sandwich
Dinner: Club Sandwich and Corn on the Cob, plus a glass of wine

What is funny - even with the extra snacks for the contest, I still ate less in calories than I did yesterday. How that happens, I don't know.

No exercise today. I got my schedule mixed up because my boyfriend usually stays over on Tuesdays and we had to move our date night to Wednesday. And I forgot to set my alarm for early this morning. Oops! But, tomorrow is another day. I am very happy with my progress in regards to my eating, and I somehow don't feel like I'm starving. And I was really worried about that!!!

Real Hunger

I actually got hungry today. Which is a good thing! Usually I can just always eat and I never give myself time to get truly hungry. I was also very snacky today, but I tried to make good choices. I was feeling kind of light headed and started getting a migraine, so I thought it might help to have something to eat, and it did for awhile.

So, here's the run down:

Breakfast: 1 Stoneyfield yogurt and 1 Coke
Lunch: 1 whole wheat tortilla with a 1/2 cup of black beans, 3 tbsp. shredded cheese and hot sauce and then 4 strawberries
Snack: 1 banana and 1/2 of a peanut butter cookie larabar
Dinner: 1/2 bagel with 1 tbsp miracle whip and liver pudding (I know, that's gross)
Dessert: 1 chocolate chip cookie

I have eaten less calories today than yesterday - only by about 25, but still, that is progress! Every little bit helps!

I woke up early this morning and did 15 minutes of cardio. I know I should've done more, but I hit my snooze button a few too many times.

So, a pretty good day, all in all!

Wow!

So, I have never been a calorie counter - I prefer to enjoy my food, rather than agonize over how much it is costing me. Except that I have obviously been enjoying my food a little too much. So, I wanted to get in my head how many calories I was eating, how many I should be eating, etc. Based on what I ate yesterday, which was way better than usual, I would say that on an average day, that I am easily eating around 4000 calories a day. That blew me away.

So, yesterday, I ate about 2000 calories. I did some figuring, and if I want to lose weight, I need to be eating around 1000-1200 calories each day. Today, I ate 1190 calories, which I think is pretty damn good, considering that it like, 3000 calories less than usual! Talk about some willpower! I think it is worse now that I live alone. If I feel like I'm being watched or someone else can see how much I'm eating, I contain myself a little bit better. Maybe I should move in with my boyfriend!

Anyway. Here's how today went:

Breakfast: 1 Stoneyfield strawberry yogurt and 1 Coke
Lunch: 1 whole wheat tortilla with 1/2 cup black beans, 3 tbsp. shredded cheese and hot sauce
Snack: 1 banana
Dinner: 1 piece pepperoni bread with 2 tbsp. ranch dressing (oh how I love bread dipped in ranch!) and 1 bowl of Chex with milk
Dessert: 1 square of a Hershey bar. Dude. And that ONE SQUARE cost me 18 calories. Crazy.

Water Count: 3 glasses and still going

Exercise: 20 minutes of cardio

Now, about this whole calories thing. I am not planning on counting calories for the rest of my life. I just want to get a good grasp on how much I should be eating. Once I do this for a week or so, I won't need to count, I will know.

But it definitely put everything in perspective. I need to take care of my body. It is expensive not to!
