So, I have never been a calorie counter - I prefer to enjoy my food, rather than agonize over how much it is costing me. Except that I have obviously been enjoying my food a little too much. So, I wanted to get in my head how many calories I was eating, how many I should be eating, etc. Based on what I ate yesterday, which was way better than usual, I would say that on an average day, that I am easily eating around 4000 calories a day. That blew me away.
So, yesterday, I ate about 2000 calories. I did some figuring, and if I want to lose weight, I need to be eating around 1000-1200 calories each day. Today, I ate 1190 calories, which I think is pretty damn good, considering that it like, 3000 calories less than usual! Talk about some willpower! I think it is worse now that I live alone. If I feel like I'm being watched or someone else can see how much I'm eating, I contain myself a little bit better. Maybe I should move in with my boyfriend!
Anyway. Here's how today went:
Breakfast: 1 Stoneyfield strawberry yogurt and 1 Coke
Lunch: 1 whole wheat tortilla with 1/2 cup black beans, 3 tbsp. shredded cheese and hot sauce
Snack: 1 banana
Dinner: 1 piece pepperoni bread with 2 tbsp. ranch dressing (oh how I love bread dipped in ranch!) and 1 bowl of Chex with milk
Dessert: 1 square of a Hershey bar. Dude. And that ONE SQUARE cost me 18 calories. Crazy.
Water Count: 3 glasses and still going
Exercise: 20 minutes of cardio
Now, about this whole calories thing. I am not planning on counting calories for the rest of my life. I just want to get a good grasp on how much I should be eating. Once I do this for a week or so, I won't need to count, I will know.
But it definitely put everything in perspective. I need to take care of my body. It is expensive not to!
